Webelos Woods
NEW! What, Who, When, Where, & Why
NEW!

Webelos Woods is a district sponsored event designed to give first and second year Webelos Scouts and their parents
a preview of the Boy Scouting experience. The program reinforces Boy Scouting values, procedures, methods and skills.
It is an introduction to Boy Scouts being a "boy led" program versus the "adult led" program used in Cub Scouts.
Also, there is the thrill of camping in the outdoors at a Boy Scout style camp, which will foster a desire to continue Scouting.
This is an excellent time for each troop to share with Webelos the activities typical for Boy Scouts.
Likewise, this is an excellent time for Webelos to visit with a variety of troops from your area, and learn which troop may be the best to join.
Webelos Woods is an event conducted by the sharpest Boy Scouts in the district for those boys who are on the threshold
of entering a Boy Scout Troop or attending as a first year Webelos Scout. Webelos Woods offers these boys events and activities
all weekend and at the same time, exposes Scouts to the Boy Scout program.
It also offers an opportunity for parents to gain perspective on troop programming and the opportunity to visit an actual Boy Scout camp.
While at this event, parents should seek information about troop camping plans and each troop's program.
As a result, parents should come away with some knowledge of Boy Scout program.

A Brief Word About Cub Scout Camping
Scouting applies age-appropriate camping programs packed with theme-oriented programs that bring Cub Scouts and Webelos Scouts
into the world of imagination. Day camping comes to the boys in neighborhoods and council camps across the country;
resident camping is a long term camp experience (usually 3 days) in which Cub Scouts and Webelos Scouts camp within a developed
theme of adventure and excitement. Camping programs often combine fun and excitement with doing one's best, getting along with others,
and developing an appreciation for ecology and the world of the outdoors.
Webelos Woods offer Webelos Scouts an opportunity to explore the world of Boy Scouting under the direction and guidance
of a Scout's parent(s) and/or Den Leaders.
