Youth Protection Training
CHANGES
Important Changes to the Boy Scouts of America’s Youth Protection Training Policies.
 |
Please be aware of these new policies and discuss these changes with your unit's leadership.
It important for every leader to maintain a current Youth Protection Certificate.
--- Youth Protection Training is required for all registered volunteers.
--- New leaders are required to take Youth Protection Training before they submit their application for registration. |
The certificate of completion for this training must be submitted at the time adult application is
submitted to the council office and before volunteer service with youth begins.
--- Youth Protection Training must be taken every two years.
If a volunteer’s Youth Protection Training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be reregistered.
Included in the recharter packet is a list of leaders trained in youth protection.
Please be prepared to include a Youth Protection Certificate on any leader that does not show on the list distributed on October.
Youth Protection Training can also be completed online at myscouting.org or can be taken at any scheduled live adult
leader specific training.
These live youth protection trainings are usually scheduled prior to the start of leader specific training.
When taking training online, please use your membership number to receive credit for the training.

Description:
Once a volunteer has a solid overview of the BSA's
values-based program, he or she can begin training for a
specific Scouting position through Leader Specific training.
This training provides the specialized knowledge a new
leader needs to assume a leadership role. Because each
course is designed for a specific leadership position, the
training time varies. (If you change positions you must take
the specific training of that new position, but do not need
to retake any of the other trainings.)

Journey to Excellence Training
October 29th @ 10AM
Beaverton Stake Center (Lower Level)
4195 SW 99th Ave, Beaverton
All leaders interested in the how to's on Journey to
Excellence Award are invited to attend. The Journey to
Excellence Award replaced the Quality Unit Award. Are you a
quality Pack or Troop? Can you prove it to others? The
Journey to Excellence Award is a way for a
Pack, Troop, Team, or Crew to show the level of standard
they perform. We will be discussing the standards to meet,
the process, and how to complete the form. Now is the time
to review the award standards while there is time to make
changes in your unit's program. We will have time to discuss
all your questions.
What is a Trained Leader
