Training Descriptions:

Youth Protection

Youth Protection Link

  • Youth Protection Training is required for all registered adults
  • The training must be current within two years from the date of issue
  • An online course is avaiable for all adults
  • Provides adult leaders and interested parents with youth protection guidelines as outlined by the BSA.
  • This training supplies information to help ensure a safe and secure environment for the youth of our program through protection guidelines that are outlined by the BSA.
  • This training provides information on the basics of recognizing and reporting abuse.

  • Should be completed immediately after accepting a new position

This Is Scouting

  • Online course for all leaders
  • This Is Scouting is a required prerequsite for attending leader specific training
  • The training provides the scouting basics for understanding the program and your role in it.

Leader Specific Training

The training provides the specialized knowledge a new leader needs to assume a leadership role. This training contains three segments that take approximately 4.5 hrs. Those three segments are "Introduction to Cub Scouting", "How We Have Fun" and position specific training.

The position specific courses are are as follows:

  • Tiger Den Leader Specific: leaders and parents of Tiger dens
  • Cub Den Leader Specific:  den leaders, asst den leaders, and parents
  • Webelos Den Leader Specific:  den leaders, asst den leaders and parents
  • Cubmaster Specific:  cubmasters, asst cubmasters, and others interested
  • Pack Committee Specific:  committee chairs and members, and parents

BALOO

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) is a one-day training event that introduces parents and leaders to the skills needed to plan and conduct pack outdoor activities, particularly pack camping.

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills

  • The Outdoor Skills Training is designed for leaders who have completed Boy Scout Leader Specific Training.
  • The Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills is an adult course offering basic Scout skills through First Class.
  • The training offers the opportunity to learn hands-on training in
    • knots
    • map and compass
    • orienteering
    • cooking
    • first aid
    • campfire planning
    • campsite fun
    • and more!

Have fun while you live and learn the patrol method. This training is required for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters to wear the trained badge on their uniform.

Den Chief Training

  • Den Chief Training is a special youth training for scouts interested in serving as Den Chiefs.
  • The training is usually segments into two parts offered on specific nights during Roundtable.
  • Check the training schedule for dates and times.

Wood Badge

Wood Badge is advanced training in leadership skills for all adults in BSA programs. Cub Scouters, leaders in Boy Scouting, Varsity Scouting, Venturing, and commissioner services are invited to participate in Wood Badge. This advanced training is presented in two parts:

  • An advanced learning experience presented over two or three weekends or as a weeklong course.
  • An application phase of several months during which the leaders apply the specific skills they have learned at Wood Badge into their current or future Scouting responsibilities.

Leader Square Knots

  • Leader Square Knots are leader recognition in specific areas of training, recognition and personal achievement.
  • The square knots are to be worn centered directly above the left shirt pocket.
